Hearing Aid Services of NY
The first time you enter our office, you will be treated like family. Our experienced front office staff, and providers will start to build a report by asking questions. We want to make sure we get every detail as every detail is important in helping someone hear better!
At Hearing Aid Consultants we provide a wide range of services for our patients. Ear protection, custom earmolds, hearing evaluations by NYS licensed hearing aid dispensers, and medical hearing evaluations by an audiologist, hearing aid repairs, hearing aid diagnosis, hearing aid candidacy, hearing aid fitting, counseling about hearing loss, hearing tests for everyone from infants to centenarians, and much more!
Our Audiologist, Judy McMahon, also performs Central Auditory Processing Evaluations, which are specialized educational assessments for ages six through adult.
We currently don’t have a special treatment program for tinnitus (ringing in the ears). However, most hearing aids now have a tinnitus relief program that can be activated to relieve some of the ringing and make it less noticeable.

Free Demo
When you come in to Hearing Aid Consultants for an appointment and free demonstration, we begin by discussing your hearing healthcare history, needs, concerns, and expectations because everyone’s situation is different. We then obtain a baseline of your hearing to determine if you are a candidate for hearing devices. We will perform an in-depth hearing evaluation in a sound treated booth, which is the gold standard in obtaining accurate and complete results. The examination results will allow us to determine the type and degree of your hearing loss.
If you are a candidate, we show you hearing aid style choices and explain the very different types of technology that are appropriate for you. By also discussing and considering your hearing needs and lifestyle, physical limitations, and budget, we’re better able to fit you with the best hearing aids for you! We’ll also program and let you hear and feel how hearing aids can improve your lifestyle. If you’d like to try them, we’ll order the hearing aids for you and you’ll be able to take them home to begin your trial period. Wearing them in your own environment allows you to see what a difference they can make in your life, and what the environment actually sounds like. Depending on the style of instrument, we can sometimes fit you on your very first visit to us!
Our hearing aids are always backed by a 60-day evaluation period.

What Style is Right For You?
Different styles of devices have been developed based on configuration and severity of your hearing loss. The style does not dictate the level of technology (basic, mid-range, advanced and premium) chosen. Once your provider has completed your hearing evaluation, this information will be used to discuss which hearing aid style best fits your needs!

Introducing The World’s Most Powerful Hearing Aids
Oticon has some of the most technologically advanced hearing aids on the market today. Along with BrainHearing technology and Own Voice Processing, Oticon has recently released three new hearing aids to provide you with a seamless listening experience.
The Oticon Xceed and the Xceed Play are the most powerful hearing aids for adults and children with severe-to-profound hearing loss. They both offer 360⁰ access to speech without the interference of background noise. This allows for a better listening experience as well as improved learning for children. The Xceed and Xceed Play feature groundbreaking technology that reduces feedback, such as static or whistling, so you can hear clearer and with better attention. Adults and children can control these devices straight from their smartphones through an app, creating more control and improved usability. The Xceed for adults comes in a variety of colors to match your skin tone or hair color while the Xceed Play includes bright, fun colors in addition to the neutral tones for younger users.
Oticon CROS hearing aids offer a revolutionary 360⁰ sound experience for those with single-sided deafness. CROS hearing aids include a transmitter with a microphone that wirelessly picks up sound and sends it from your poorer ear to your better ear with a hearing aid. This allows you to easily engage in conversations in different environments. Oticon CROS hearing aids feature OpenSoundNavigator and TwinLink dual-streaming technology so you can hear from all directions. This gives you the freedom to do what you love while enjoying a more natural listening experience.

The Latest Technology
The latest hearing technology connects directly to your smart phones and devices. This allows you to use your phone as a remote control for your hearing aids and some even take phone calls. The chip that manufacturers use in these devices is thinner than paper and about the size of three poppy seeds.

Helpful Tips
Q. I have new hearing aids and I’m having trouble adjusting; what tips can you give me to make this transition easier?
I would contact our office and make a list of issues you’re having. Sometimes, a small adjustment might actually take care of a lot of your troubles; but we won’t know unless you explain this to us. We are dedicated to making your transition as easy as possible.
Q. I have a family member with hearing loss and communication is getting difficult; what can I do?
Approach your family member and let them know how you feel. It is usually helpful if you explain that their hearing isn’t just affecting them, but it’s also affecting their loved ones. Also let them know that you care about them and enjoy when they are a part of the conversation.
